Non sapevo come iniziare, così apro il laptop, clicco sull’icona di Chess.com e avvio una rapid di 30 minuti. Gioco con il bianco, ho iniziato con e4, e5 (risposta più che naturale), f4: gambetto di Re. Se ve lo state chiedendo il mio ELO attuale è poco meno di 1200, quindi sì, sono scarso. Ma amo giocare a scacchi, e amo il gambetto di Re. Non è semplicemente un’apertura, è una dichiarazione di intenti. Il mondo degli scacchi è ormai condizionato irrimediabilmente dai computer scacchistici, dalla precisione e dalla freddezza dei movimenti. Il gambetto di Re è un’apertura romantica, di chi gioca per bellezza più che per correttezza. Amo i gambetti perché sono eleganti e vivi.
Comunque il punto non sono certo gli scacchi, ho anche altri interessi io. Leggo fumetti e scrivo sceneggiature per dei Graphic Novel senza ahimè alcun disegnatore. Ho anche pensato di provare a cimentarmi nel disegno, ma senza speranza alcuna. Per tutta onestà, anche se può sembrare assurdo per uno sceneggiatore di fumetti, per gran parte del tempo non ho avuto bisogno di un disegnatore. Scrivo solo per un piacere personale, per appagare il mio spirito, banalmente perché mi piace. Come il mio punteggio a scacchi non mi preoccupa affatto, nonostante sia molto basso, al pari scrivo senza un disegnatore e ciò non mi preoccupa affatto. Metto nella mia scrittura le mie idee, la mia filosofia (se così la si può definire), la mia arte. Così in questo blog si parlerà proprio di questo, della bellezza dell’arte, della bellezza dello scrivere.
È un piacere condividere parte dei miei scritti con voi, senza disegni è ovvio.

I didn’t know how to start, so I opened my laptop, clicked on the Chess.com icon, and started a 30-minute rapid game. I’m playing with White; I opened with e4, e5 (a perfectly natural response), then f4: the King’s Gambit. In case you’re wondering, my current Elo is just under 1200, so yeah, I’m not very good. But I love playing chess, and I love the King’s Gambit. It’s not just an opening; it’s a statement of intent. The chess world is now irrevocably shaped by chess engines, by the precision and coldness of the moves. The King’s Gambit is a romantic opening, one for those who play for beauty rather than correctness. I love gambits because they are elegant and alive.
Anyway, the point isn’t chess; I have other interests too. I read comics and write scripts for graphic novels, without an artist to draw them. I even thought about trying my hand at drawing, but there was no hope for that. To be honest, as absurd as it might sound for a comic book writer, for the longest time I didn’t feel the need for an artist. I write purely for personal pleasure, to satisfy my spirit, simply because I enjoy it. Just as my chess score doesn’t worry me at all despite being quite low, I write without an artist and it doesn’t bother me in the slightest. I pour my ideas, my philosophy (if you can call it that), and my art into my writing. So, this blog will be about exactly that: the beauty of art, the beauty of writing.
It’s a pleasure to share some of my work with you, without drawings, of course.
